A better educational choice for some - Virtual Schooling

Many students do not reach their full potentials in a traditional school setting. For those students, virtual school can be the perfect solution. Students can work at their own pace, parents can track student progress daily, and students can experience academic success.
I highly recommend SoCal College Preparatory.

This is a private virtual school, so there is individualized college counseling, live teachers available online 6AM - 9Pm on most days for instant live help, and you can credit for additional independent study done outside the regular curriculum (this is NOT typical on online public schools). Also, since it is a private school, there is NO residency requirement. You can live anywhere, move, travel, etc. and never change schools.
Best of all, the school encourages concurrent enrollment with local community colleges and may have a partnership with DeVry university for dual enrollment.
This program is great for homeschoolers because parents can preview all materials in advance.

Honors Classes.

Parents are often married to the idea of their children taking all honors classes. It is as if somehow their children will just not be successful if they are not enrolled in honors courses. Yes, universities do want to see that a student took some challenging courses in high school. The truth is that many universities have a limit on how many honors courses they accept in terms of a weighted GPA. Taking so many honors courses that a student is struggling and performing poorly will only be detriment to school success and college entrance. Make sure to research which honors courses and how many courses a university will accept before insisting that your child take on an unmanageable course load.

Check out what the University of California states as their honors policy:
