Parents are often married to the idea of their children taking all honors classes. It is as if somehow their children will just not be successful if they are not enrolled in honors courses. Yes, universities do want to see that a student took some challenging courses in high school. The truth is that many universities have a limit on how many honors courses they accept in terms of a weighted GPA. Taking so many honors courses that a student is struggling and performing poorly will only be detriment to school success and college entrance. Make sure to research which honors courses and how many courses a university will accept before insisting that your child take on an unmanageable course load.
